The Nevalyashka is rounded & weighted doll that pops back up if you try to knock it over. In English-speaking countries, it is often referred to as the roly-poly toy, round-bottomed doll, tilting doll, tumbler or wobbly man – a toy that rights itself when pushed over.
In Russian, they go by two names – ‘Nevalyashka’ (literal meaning: ‘One that never lies down’) and ‘Vanka Vstanka’ – meaning ‘Ivan get up’.
In the Soviet Union, Nevalyashkas came in all shapes and sizes.
